Third time unlucky for rubbish administration

8.50.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 13th Oct 2008

West Wiltshire Council has hit the headlines yet again for being stupid about rubbish. According to The Telegraph a Hilperton man was told by the council that his wheelie bin coudn't be emptied because it was left on a gravel drive where the stones might get into the wheel arches and tip the bin over.

This follows the 'two finger rule' story - a Warminster resident was told her bin wouldn't be taken if it couldn't be moved by two binman fingers - and the 'too far from the pavement' story - a Southwick bin was not taken because it was the wrong number of centimetres from the kerb.

Whilst these events are usually based on silly misunderstandings which then get embroidered by the press who love a good 'Health and Safety' story, it has to be asked why Tory West Wiltshire seems to generate more than its fair share of them.
