Speaking on his visit to the city, Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg MP said "It's part of a complete transformation of city politics in this country from Labour to the Liberal Democrats and that is, in my view, a sign of things to come."

Lib Dem Group Leader, Cllr Barbara Janke said "The electorate has given us a clear mandate for what they want out of the Liberal Democrats. They've shown us they want leadership. "Now with the majority rule we feel we can give confidence to the city and the policies the electorate want."
