Biography:

Alistair Cameron was born in Coventry and educated in Pembrokeshire before moving to Bristol where he gained a BA Hons degree at Bristol University followed by a Diploma in Personnel Management at Bristol Polytechnic.

Alistair has been appointed to a number of human resources posts within the Electricity Supply Industry, initially with the South West Electricity Board (SWEB) in Bristol and subsequently with the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB), Nuclear Electric and British Energy in Gloucester. He is currently Employee Relations Adviser with British Energy.

Alistair joined the Liberal Party in 1984 and was a Founder Member of the Liberal Democrats in 1988. He represented Hesters Way Ward on Cheltenham Borough Council for 12 years and was chair of the Housing Committee (1990 - 6) and Leader of the Council (1997 -8). He has been Gloucestershire County Councillor for Cheltenham (Hesters Way) Electoral Division since 2000. He is a member of the Personal Care Scrutiny Committee which scrutinises Social Services within Gloucestershire County Council. He is a Governor of Cheltenham Kingsmead Secondary School and Arthur Dye Primary School, Cheltenham.

He campaigned to stop the proposed closure of Tewkesbury Hospital and is currently campaigning to save Battledown Children's Ward at Cheltenham General Hospital. His hobbies include travel, reading, watching football matches, history, horse riding and swimming.
